[edit] Archetypes

[edit] Mage

Main Article: Mage

A Mage uses "hermetic" magic to cast many different spells. They also have the ability to detect ley lines, which are small areas that will enhance a mage's spell power as long as the mage stands on them. Mages can learn to cast various offensive spells including Acid Stream, Lightning bolt, Manabolt, Blindness, Confusion, and Petrify. Mages can also enhance their abilities or an ally's abilities with spells such as Haste (increases Action points), Aim, Armor, Ignore Pain, Stealth, and Heal. Mages can also weaken the abilities of enemies with spells such as Slow, Distraction, Disintegrate, Agony, and Mana Static.

[edit] Street Samurai

Main Article: Street Samurai

A Street Samurai is a master of physical combat, and most similar to the fighter class found in many RPGs. They typically augment their bodies with cyberware to increase their reflexes, accuracy, and strength in order to become more efficient killers. In Shadowrun Returns, Street Samurais can bring up to three weapons into combat. They can learn special ranged skills such as snapshot, armor piercing, and head-shots. In melee combat, a Samurai can gain actions like slash, stab, and cleave with bladed weapons, and the ability to disarm an enemy.

[edit] Decker

Main Article: Decker

A Decker uses a datajack to interface with the Matrix to steal or erase data. Deckers typically use a cyberdeck, which is an illegal computer used for storing stolen files and running programs which increase their chances of hacking nodes and help overcome Intrusion Countermeasures Electronics (ICE) which can kick the decker out of the matrix or even physically harm him. Sometimes, corporations have pulled their networks off the public Matrix, and a Decker will need to physically get into a building before being able to jack in.

Deckers can use their hacking skills to take control of network-controlled doors, cameras, alarms, and gun turrets

[edit] Shaman

Main Article: Shaman

A Shaman is a magic-user with the ability to summon forth spirits into the world. They utilize an aboriginal totem to find summoning points in the world from which they may draw out powerful spirits to aid them in battle. Alternatively, shamans can use a fetish to summon an elemental spirit. Shamans also have access to certain magic spells.

When summoning, shamans must spend their own action points to maintain control of a spirit. The skill of the Shaman and the level of the summoned spirit determine the base chance of controlling it. If the players attempt to use more action points than they invested in the spirit, the chances of losing control of it go up exponentially. A spirit that breaks free from a shaman is very likely to attack the shaman who summoned it.

[edit] Rigger

Main Article: Rigger

A Rigger uses a datajack to interface with vehicles and drones. When operating a drone, riggers essentially put their consciousness into the machine, moving it through small areas like air ducts for reconnaissance, as well as using the drone's weapons to attack enemies. As Riggers advance their skills, they'll be able to use larger drones, control more than one drone at a time, and increase the distance that they can operate the drones away from their bodies.

[edit] Physical Adept

Main Article: Physical Adept

A Physical Adept is essentially a martial arts master who uses magic to further enhance her physical abilities. These experts in melee combat can learn to disarm opponents and attack multiple adjacent targets with a whirling roundhouse kick. Physical adepts will learn self-buffing spells such as Killer Hands, Distance Strike, Mystic Armor, Traceless Walk, and Quick Strike.
